I take good care of myself

by: Francisca Wegdam

I live in the French Pyrenees now for over a year in a non isolated ' gardenhouse ' at 700m altitude without running water and electricity It suits me just fine! Not from a poverty point of view, but from the desire to live this experience. It's not hard to live this way. Much is in abundance.!

What are my routines during the day?!

The past 100 days I managed to do my exercises as soon as I wake up. Often the sky is still red which is just before sunrise. I stand on my lovely sheepskin outside on the porch. Preferably totally naked.

These are the exercises I do every day: stretching/Rishi Isometrics, the 5 Tibetans together with some Tantric exercises, breathing exercises to connect left and right and some to connect above and below. Why? Because a flexible backbone is super important to let all energy flow freely up and down my spine. The control of my breath gives me control over my mind, emotions and body. I can say from experience that these exercises also benefit my love life.

During the exercises the Sun slowly appears behind the treetops and climbs higher in the sky. I finish with a last exercise: standing on my head for 5 minutes. Very nice for my organs and important to balance all the streams because they go in opposite direction for 5 minutes.

Next I meditate according to the method of Kriya Yoga. Afterwards I feel young, bright and connected. In one word: wonderful!!

Four months ago I would have been annoyed if someone sat down here and lit a cigar. Besides the fact that I don’t like the smell the irritation had to do with the situation of sitting still instead of doing the things that had to be done. Of course the person did absolutely nothing wrong. I was frustrated because I had not done what really was important to me: taking good care of myself, my body and my energy.

The way I did not feed my physical and energetic body with physical and breathing exercises, I didn’t feed my mental body with pure/valuable knowledge and I didn’t feed my soul in meditation. I didn’t put myself in the first place. What really is important to me, is me. That I will give first attention. What I do now creates an enormous space, more harmony and compassion for others. I already succeeded in creating this for the past 100 days. Up till eleven o’clock I do not want to be disturbed. Although I do not mind if people come and want to participate in doing the exercises and/or meditation !

I continue my program with walking the dogs, two super sweet and cheerful Rhodesian Ridgebacks. They live in a straw bales doghouse for the night and have two easy leather chairs where they can lounge like diva’s during the day. While I walk I usually gather some branches to use for firewood. They are everywhere to be found in the forest. No need to take an axe for chopping or a saw to make small pieces. Every desired size is available. Everything stove-tailored. I only need to bend  to pick them up like fruit. Once in a while I take my car and bring them to my wooden house.!

My daily food consists mainly of fruits, seeds, vegetables, flowers and grass. I just pick them up and eat instantly. Only once a day I take the time to sit down for a salad; mostly in the afternoon. Before I eat or drink I say thanks and ask the light which has been shining upon it, to shine in me and through me back into the world. I do eat and drink very consciously mostly with my eyes closed and I prefer not to talk. Because I want to make no mistake in what I can and can't eat, I decided the first year to seed only edible flowers and plants. Sometimes in the morning, when the sun still is not too bright, I am watering the vegetable and herbal/flower garden with rainwater after an intense sun period.

Now I only want to harvest all the seeds. I am in awe every time and realize how incredibly ingenious plants are. Those seeds are so well protected and have optimal conditions to dry. Next year this little paradise will be a sea of flowers for the bees. The rest of the day I have time to do what needs to be done and follow my guidance. That is also an very interesting exercise. Above all I learned that the synchronicity in my live is the ability to communicate telepathically. !

From 11 am there is time to do all other things: emails, social contacts, preparing and giving massages and workshops... Easy for me to say and to do without having children and without a fixed job.

I would like to share a wonderful story about a French man of 85 years old who is still working and who inspired me to take good care of myself! I met this financial man, when I had regular contact with a company that makes cars on compressed air. I asked him once how he was able to fulfill this job of 60 hours a week at his age. This is what he told me: He wakes up at 5 am every morning and goes swimming for 1 hour.

Then he goes to Church where he sits in silence and talks to his wife. Around 7:30 he goes to the pub of his son around the corner where he is having breakfast and reads his newspaper for another hour. So he can be at work from 9 am to 7 pm and often in weekends. Physicaly, emotionally and mentally he had fed himself. In this way he has all day to be creative for this super innovative company.!

By taking good care of myself, I try to be the best gift to others. Because I feed myself, I don't need the energy of others. I can give ... just like the fruit tree gives, regardless to whom. I also am able to receive although in love there is still something to learn.!

I wish you well and that you will experience peace and harmony within yourself. More of these stories from the Pyrenees to come. Until next time!!
